I believe that. In some areas, you may have to wait that long just to get a decent venue!
I guess we have been on the 13 month plan, and that's worked fine, but we lucked out a few times.
We waited 2 years...both wanted to be done with school first. But, we got married exactly one week after DHs graduation!
We're on the 14 month plan, only so we could have some time to save money. But my friends are on the 29 month plan!! That's just crazy!! Plus, they already live together!!
We had a 15 month engagement. It seems my uncle is a director of a summer camp you may be familiar with and we wanted my aunt and uncle to be at the wedding! It would have been nice to have a shorter engagemnt, as it doesn't take as much effort to plan a wedding in Richmond, VA, but it was worth the wait to have all the family there.
I buy 16 months-- to me, it seems like a decent time to really get prepared for weddings. For a Catholic wedding at least, you need to make arrangements at least one year prior, and depending on when the groom proposes and when the couple plans to set the wedding date-- for me, engagement periods theoretically should run 12 to 23 months ;)
Ours personally is 16 months long-- right on the button. He proposed in February, I wanted a June wedding. Simple as that.
