I was watching Morning Joe today on MSNBC and was a little suprised when I heard entertainment/gossip reporter Courtney Hazlett say this:
During the Cannes Film Festival - I don't know if you remember this - but Spike Lee got really uppity about Clint Eastwood and about how there were no African Americans involved in the filming of "Flags of our Fathers" or "Letters From Iwo Jima."
I mean, really. Didn't all racism end two days ago when Obama clinched the Democratic nomination? I'm sure it was a casual mistake, but I don't know what's more amazing: the fact that Hazlett used the word "uppity" to describe an African American or that I was watching Morning Joe.
UPDATE 3:54 PM: Video can be found here.
UPDATE 6:10 PM: Hazlett has apologized.Posted by Doug at June 6, 2008 10:04 AM
