Red Sox, Cub, Angels Sign A-Rod to Multi-Team Deal

Former Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez will divide his time between the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and Anaheim Angels, with each team sharing the $375 million, five-year contract. “Even with the second-highest payroll in baseball, we could not shoulder the expense alone,” said Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein. A-Rod will play for the Red Sox on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the Cubs on Thursdays and Fridays, and the Angels on Saturdays and Sundays. Should the Cubs face either team in a World Series, A-Rod will bat for the American League team and field for Chicago.
