Go West, Old Man

It's been a busy weekend and even yesterday and today have felt like one long Saturday. Sleeping on a pull-out couch at the in-law will do that to you. We're still in Chicago for one more night of Passover. My parents flew in on Saturday and on Sunday we treated them to a tour of the wedding venue at camp. I was surprised to learn that my father, a man who has travelled the world on business had never been to Wisconsin. My mother, who also had never been to America's Dairyland, loved the flat topography.

My parents were thrilled to see camp as it gave them a better picture of where and when everything will happen this summer. L's dad treated everyone to frozen custard at Kopp's, rounding out a true midwest experience for my folks.

My father and I talked about we talked about wedding showers - L is staying through the weekend for a friend's party on Saturday - and what they would be called if such a thing as a men's-only version existed. We didn't exactly come up with anything, but agreed that "shower" is definitely not the right word to use for a group of men who get together to celebrate. The only place men shower together is in prison, so perhaps that's not the best image to associate with marriage.

1) I can tell you are still tired. Your gramming in this post leaves a little to be desired....or are those just typos? ;)

2) Prison is not the only place men shower together, you're forgetting the locker room.

3) I believe REVEL would be a good term for any all male wedding shower. Just look at the definition:

1) To take great pleasure or delight
2) To engage in uproarious festivities; make merry
3) A boisterous festivity or celebration; merrymaking.
These definitions were taken from www.dictionary.com My favorite part is that they acutally mention the wedding party...."The members of the wedding party made merry all night"

So you see, if fits.

BB, you are right on target. My last two posts have been done on a slow dial-up computer at L's family's house. To top it off, I'm working on a grand total of ten hours of sleep in two days with wake-up calls care of my soon-to-be niece who is three and a half. We're having a good time, of course, and L's niece is the cutest thing in the world, but I now understand a little more about sleep-deprived parents. I don't know how they do it.

I promise I'll be back to form on Thursday when I'm back safely in New York.

Interesting conjugation of the word "grammar" by the way. I like the idea of using it as a verb.

Isn't frozen custard the best?? Of course, we don't have Kopp's in Detroit, but same idea!!

Maybe I'm tired, because I didn't notice any grammar mistakes!

I like that you left the typos in even after someone pointed them out. Full marks for authenticity.

More like full marks for slow technology. Posting from Chicago meant using a dial-up connection, so changing a few typos wasn't worth the effort. But I'll leave them up if it makes you happy.
